Alexander Wang's recent AW/14 collaboration with H&M was set to be a massive hit. The collection itself predominately followed the monochrome and greyscale theme within its products ranging from £19.99 to anywhere inbetween £199.99, from luxury OTT sportswear to baggy boyfriend jumpers, the collection itself had a product suitable for each individual style.
However come the release date (6/11/14) at 9am, H&M's online website was already crashing and overloaded with consumers desperate to get their hands on these one off items. By 11am the majority of products had already sold out leaving just a few underwhelming items at which were not even relatable to the brand yet still being sold for double the price.
Customers noticed that barely hours after the collection had launched, items were being sold on through Ebay for nearly triple the price. Begging the question as to what is the point of a designer and high street collaboration if the whole collection just ends up on Ebay?
